British Beauty

A couple of weeks ago I spent the best part of a week working on a job for L’Oreal. The team were truly ace and it was a wonderful assignment – from start to finish.

The visual idea was to shoot a few interviews and then simply get on the streets and piece together great footage of ‘people’; nice close-ups, slow mo etc. I had to direct, which was a challenge and really quite tiring, but amazing fun and hugely rewarding.

So here it is:

Kent and Curwen

My first ever attempt at shooting a fashion show! Madness. I never thought I’d find myself working on these jobs – but I am far from complaining!

This was an edit shot for historic British brand, Kent and Curwen, courtesy of clever communications company, Bespoke Banter.

Thoroughly enjoyed every single – sweating-it-out – minute.

LCM and Fudge

I have now shot my first jobs in the crazed and frenetic world of a fashion show.

London Collections: Men was my first intrepid adventure into the fine art aestheticism of the catwalk. Angles, lines, textures and croissants.

You find yourself in a trance like focus, frantically attempting to cover-off your shot list – all the while fighting off other intrusive pieces of glass, both mirror and lens. It’s ace, particularly when you’re working with a wonderful team.

Although an edit – largely shot by me for another brand – has yet to be signed off, this piece below features a few of my clips towards the end. The rest (and majority) was shot by a most capable cameraman, Martin Roach.

Company: Bespoke Banter

Produced and Edited: Catrin Griffiths

First Camera: Martin Roach

Second Camera: Me!

British Fashion Awards

Welcome to HelloTV and The Scott Report.

Again, these were shot by me but orchestrated and edited by the lovely lot at Bespoke Banter.

It was quite the experience and I don’t believe I ve ever met so many popular faces in such an intensely short space of time! Mental.

Getting the sound levels right was a challenge to say the least!

Shop Shots

A few shots of 123, a once (illegal) gun factory.

All taken with the wonderful 50mm workhorse.

City and Angel

Earlier this month I faced my first editorial beginner bashing. I somehow believed that I was meeting only the designer to discuss a photo feature on Old Spitalfields Market. This just wasn’t the case, and I soon found myself before a handful of faces, eager to suss me out.

Sat in a small, sweltering glass cage, I fast realised that this was an interview – and I didn’t have my portfolio. Really quite the error that pitched me against the chief photographer. As I was soon to discover, this bloke was only teaching me a few harsh, but very necessary lessons. In the meanwhile, he tore me to shreds. Scary and exciting.

And thank you very much Zest Media. I am now a freelancer for City and Angel magazine.

Here are a few photos for the Spotlight article on Old Spitalfields Market:

Lulu Kennedy

A few weeks back, a lovely little lady allowed me access to a rather interesting studio – number 148 Brick Lane. In this studio, a small group of dedicated fashionistas work away in what seems to me a face-paced and relentless industry. Welcome to Fashion East.

Lulu Kennedy is the boss and it was her interview I came along to cover. Bip Ling put down the questions while Lulu returned the answers; they discussed Lulu & Co – a new sister project to celebrate Fashion East’s 10th birthday.

It was intriguingly enjoyable – even if most of what was said eluded my comprehension.

Welcome to Fashion East, but first meet Bip:
