FIG and The Mayor Gallery

FIG – or Fashion Illustration Gallery – promotes and sells the works of fashion illustrators. Last night was the private viewing for their latest exhibition – International Textiles.

The “fashion illustrator’s illustrator”, Rene Gruau (1909-2004) was the artist in focus, and it was his brilliant work that adorned the inner walls of  The Mayor Gallery.

Prosecco, expensive water, and vivid colours followed.

Rightly or wrongly, I chose against the flash. It’s so much more pleasant working without one, but there are always compromises – like consistent exposure, skin tones and bloody white balance. But still…it’s a long learning curve.
